The Veteran Coach Tournament is another popular
tournament for the teams that cant make it into the
divisional rounds. Each season, the league picks one of
the veteran coaches on their staff to go and help train
the new coaches on the teams. In order to find out what
team deserves to get the services of such a seasoned
coach, they hold a tournament with the winner getting the
benefits of years of Blood Bowl experience. There is also
a cash prize for the winners to help them out on the road
to the top.
The winning team gets 60,000
gp, and the losing team gains 30,000 gp plus their normal
winnings for the match. With the veteran coach joining
the team, he also brings along a large reputation from
his years coaching a team of his own. Any team with a
veteran coach may add an additional point of Fan Factor,
from the veterans small but loyal group of fans. They
also get the benefit of his years of coaching and may
also use him as an assistant coach (add +1 assistant
coach). Not only can he coach, but also he has learned
how to motivate the team and the fans alike (add +1
cheerleader). Because the Veteran Coach adds an assitant
coach and a cheerleader, his cost his technically 20K,
but he doesn't add any more TR than that. Though his
greatest benefit to the team is his ability to help the
team get better through his experience. The team may re-roll
any post-game roll on the roll of a 4+ (exactly the same
as a pro roll, but only for post game rolls). The veteran
coach is getting on in his years, so he may only attempt
one re-roll per game. Rolls that can be re-rolled are :
Winnings, MVP awards, skill rolls and Fan Factor rolls.
Note that the Veteran Coach cannot be affected by the
Sorry and Sorry Sir! cards. The Veteran Coach will remain
with the winning team for one season.
