Veteran's Legacy Tournament 2002

In a dire situation, when the purse is flat and the cost of life increasing, you can count on an old Bloof Bowl player to do anything. Like regrouping with the other retired players in difficulty and forming an association, then invite the best teams in the league to battle for a cut of the profits generated by the event, but most importantly, their knowledge.

The winner of the tournament finals gets 100,000 gp plus a Helm of Blinding. The runner up gets 100,000 gp.

Helm of Blinding : This special Magic Helmet grants the wearer +1AV (thus, a player already wearing a Magic Helmet cannot wear it). Like any Magic Helmet, it cannot bring the AV of a player above 10. Additionally, this helm powered by sunlight can, once per half, emit a ray of blinding light to temporarily blind an opponent if the wearer rolls above the opponent's Agility score using 1d6 (this is worked out exactly like the Hypnotic Gaze skill, and has the same effect on the affected player). Since it uses the sun as a source of power, the helm will not function during weather such as Pouring Rain and Blizzard. On the other hand, during Sweltering Heat and Very Sunny weather, the blinding ray gets a +1 on the d6 to blind the opponent.

The veteran players, in addition, are willing to share their knowledge of the game. The league forbids them to teach 'important' skills, though. The training will be free for the winning team, and will cost 100,000 gp to the runner up, if they decide to train one of their player. The trainee is chosen by the head coach, and will miss the first game of the season to reflect his time of training with the veteran. At the end of the training, the player will gain a special free skill, chosen in the table below, depending on the skill access he possesses (i.e.: only a player with access to agility skills can take Diving Catch).
