Special
rules for the tournament
Every game of this
tournament is played in a graveyard, at night. The crowd
is a little special, not siding for any particular team,
and consist of Zombies, Skeletons, Ghouls, Vampires,
Wights, Mummies, Ghosts and other type of Undeads. This
makes up for quite an angry crowd... This results in the
fact that the crowd
is not affected by Fan Factor, and is always numbered between 5,000 and 10,000
Undeads (1d6+4). Teams
playing in the invitational are always considered FF 4
for each match, minus the number of living allies on the
team (Beastmen, Dark Elves and/or Chaos Warrior). If the crowd invades the pitch or throws a rock,
it will target living players if possible before any
Undead player. This
also results in no
actual winnings for every game, but Undead players can be
replaced freely by picking them in the graveyard at the
end of the game.
Playing at night also means that "Very Sunny" and
"Sweltering Heat" weather must be ignored and considered normal weather
when rolled on the weather table.
There are advantages for
playing in a cemetery, of course. Necromancers are more potent in
this environment and the Regeneration skill works on 2+ (unless
it's a mutation) Even if the Necromancer is injured,
kidnapped or ejected from the game, the Undeads player
can stil regenerate, but only on 3+. The Vampires are also supplied with the
necessary blood and they can ignore their negative skill
if they still have it, for the games in this tournament
only. Necromancer Adepts can also use
their power twice instead of once during the game.
Also note that
unfortunately, the Blood Bowl Association heard of this
tournament and sent a contingent of Ghoul referees to
make sure that the rules are applied. So, players can
still be ejected like in a normal game.
Rules for handicap
The Forgotten King knows
that not all Blood Bowl Undead teams are of equal power,
and is willing to help the "lesser". The
Necromancer of the lower TR team can call upon the powers
of the Lich a number of times equal to the bonus MVP's
the team gets for the game. The spell can only be cast at
the start of the opponent's turn, and will create several
effects, all happening at the same time:
Lich's Wrath: hundreds of skeletal hands try
to grab the opposing teams. All opponents except Mummies must roll 1d6 and
will fall on a result of 1-3. All downed opponents will then be attacked by
the hands and must make
an armor roll. This does not create a turn
over, even if the player with the ball falls because of
the hands. The
opposing team's movement is also impeded by the hands (exactly
like the Magic Item Scutt's
Deluge of Despair),
but again, the
hands will not touch the Mummies. The players knocked down can still move in this
turn (or be placed proned if they were stunned), but
their movement is still halved. This spell will also summon a Skeleton Warrior onto the field (this works like
the Dirty Trick Sewer
Map). The Skeleton
Warrior is 5 4 3
9 Block, Thick Skull, Regeneration and armed with a magical two handed sword (consider it like a running chainsaw +3 to armor, +1
to injury that cannot harm the Warrior if he's knocked
down). The Warrior cannot take or carry
the ball due to the sword, and will not voluntarily enter
the square where the ball lies. The Skeleton Warrior is
considered part of the team until a TD is scored or the half ends.
The prize, the
Forgotten King
The winning team in the
final gets the privilege of the Lich's company for an
entire season. The Forgotten King is worth 200,000 gp for
TR purposes and takes the place of the Adept Necromancer,
who will return when the Lich departs. The King can perform all the
things a Necromancer Adept can, but cannot be harmed in any way (cards like Sorry! and Sorry
Sir! have no effect against him). If the head coach (Necromancer)
is sent off, kidnapped, injured, etc., the Lich will take
charge for the remainder of the game, and the Undeads can
still use their Regeneration skill. The Forgotten King can also
cast spells, but the Blood Bowl Association will not let
him cast other spells than those of a normal wizard.
Thus, he can, once
per game, cast a Lightning Bolt, Fireball or Toad Spell, just like a normal wizard).
Finally, Liches spend a lot of time creating all such of
magical items. This result in the Undead team having a chance to
get a Magic Item in bonus of the other card(s) (still
only one Magic Item per draw). Before the roll for the cards is made, the
Undead coach rolls a dice and on a 4+, the Lich will have
created a Magic Item.
The
Soul Collector contest
The Forgotten King doesn't
dislike violence either, and will reward the Undead
player with the most casualties (regenerated or not) at
the end of the tournament. The Forgotten King will
perform a special ceremony strenghtening the skull of the
winner, who will gain the Thick Skull Physical Ability as
a bonus skill.
