OnLine Blood Bowl League
OLBBL Help Guide
Introduction

Welcome to the OLBBL,the largest OnLine BloodBowl League in the world. You have now probably got yourself a team in the OLBBL and you are eager to get started and play against one of the hundreds of coaches in the league.

First of all you need to connect to the mIRC server rollingrock.alternativenet.org. To do this you start mIRC and then go to the file/setup menu. Click Add and in the window that appears you can type in whatever you want in the Description field and then rollingrock.alternativenet.org in the Server field. Enter 6667 in the Port field and leave Group and Password blank. You can also access the server by typing /server rollingrock.alternativenet.org in any of the channel windows in mIRC. When you have connected to the server enter /join #lockerroom. You will now be in the meeting channel of the OLBBL and a few other leagues. In the userfield there usually are a few users who have a @ or + in front of their nicknames. The ones with the @ are the commissioners of the OLBBL and those marked with a + are league assistants. You can always turn to these if you have any problems or questions.

Getting a game

Ask around if anyone wants to play you. State what kind of team you have and the Team Rating (TR) and in what division you are playing. When someone has agreed to play you, find a channel to play in. Now open the BloodBowl Client. If you don't have the BBclient it can be downloaded here. When you have started the client, a window appears with three fields. In the top field you enter, preferably, your nickname. In the second field, the chat field, you should enter //weyr.esper.net/#ChannelX where X is the number of the channel. In the third field, the data field, you enter //irc.bmi.net/#BbowlX, where X is the channel number and this has to be the same as in the chat field. When you have done this, press connect and you will enter one of the gamechannels.
If there are players here already who are playing there will be a name in the field and a button below that saying " Watch Game". It is perfectly fine to watch games but respect if the players don't want you to type in there. Saying "Hi" is never wrong though (unless you start saying it 500 times). If you don't want to watch but find a empty channel close the client and open it up again and try another channel. Usually there are bots in channel 1-8. When you have found a empty channel or the channel where your opponent is waiting, you press the Join Game or Start Game button. Now the fun can begin.

Playing the game   (see also: Game Pieces in the BBIRC Manual)

You will probably soon understand what to do when you are in the gamechannel. There are 16 squares on both sides of the field. You move around players by dragging them (hold left mouse button down over a player and then move the mouse cursor where you want the player and then release the button where you want him ). To show the opponent which way your player is moving you click in the squares and then numbers will appear showing on which step of his movement he is. When rightclicking a player a menu will appear where you can place players prone, stunned, standing or show that they have a ball. Now we move onto the commands which you need to know to be able to "roll dice".

Commands   (see also: Rolling The Dice in the BBIRC Manual)

Usually the bot's name is nb but sometimes he will be named cb, hb or similarly. If the name of the bot is anything else but nb then use that name instead of nb as shown in the command list which can be found here.

Additional info

Sometimes it can be hard to connect to the mIRC server. If this occurs instead of using the name of the server use the IP of it. The IP for rollingrock.alternativenet.org is 216.87.208.170. So to access the server type /server 216.87.208.170. Another option is to try connecting to a random AlternativeNet server by using irc.alternativenet.org or irc.altnet.org

If there are no bots around ask in #lockerroom if someone can put them up. You can also type this in the gamechannel: /Invite nb #ChannelX (the X is the channelnumber).

Sometimes //weyr.esper.net/#channelX won't work. If that happens, try using //adastra.esper.net/#channelX instead.

Read all the rules. There are quite a few differences from the original rules.

Finally, if you have any other questions, the best place to get answers is to ask around in the lockerroom.
