1.0 Connecting to the IRC Servers - To play Blood Bowl using IRC,
you must connect to two separate servers. The first server can be any IRC
server and is used to send regular text messages from client to client.
The second server must be a Microsoft Chat Server and is used for transmitting
game data from client to client.
2.0 The Connect Screen - This screen is used to specify the user's
nickname, the IRC servers and channels, and the user's proxy settings.
2.1 Nickname - Enter the nickname that you would like
to use while playing Blood Bowl. This name must be 9 characters or less.
If you are also connected to the same IRC server using another program,
then this nickname must be different than the one used in the other program.
2.2 Chat Server - This box indicates the IRC server
and channel that are used for sending text messages while playing.
irc.icx.net is the IRC server most commonly used
for Blood Bowl. Games are played in #Channel1 through
#Channel8, while general Blood Bowl discussion takes
place in the #lockerroom.
2.3 Data Server - This box indicates the Microsoft
Chat Server that is used for transmitting game data.
irc.bmi.net is the most commonly used server.
chat.ftn.de is an alternate server that is occasionally
used. Both coaches and all spectators must use the same data server for a game.
Games are played in the channels #BBowl1 through
#BBowl8 where the number should correspond to the
channel number specified in the Chat Server box.
2.4 Proxy Settings - If your ISP connects you to
the internet by a proxy server, fill in the information for your proxy server
and port address. If you do not use a proxy server, or if you're not sure if
you use a proxy server, then leave these boxes blank.
2.5 Connect Button - Once you have filled in the boxes
on the Connect Screen, press the Connect button. A new screen then appears which
says "Connecting... Please Wait". The background color of this screen indicates
your current status connecting to the data server. Orange indicates that a
connection is being established. Green indicates a successful connection.
Red indicates a failed connection attempt.
Once you have successfully connected to both of the IRC servers, the connect
screens disappear and are replaced by the main Blood Bowl IRC Client screen.
