Skills Rules
3.09 Diving Tackle
3.091 Diving Tackle may be used only during your opponent's team turn and only ONCE per turn per player with the skill. 3.092 Diving Tackle does NOT work in conjunction with the skill Frenzy. 3.093 Diving Tackle may be used any time an opponent moves voluntarily into a square in the tackle zone of a player with the skill, so long as it is also during the moving player's turn. It may be used against players making normal movement, berserk players, and players following up a block (unless the player with this skill was the target of the block being followed). 3.094 A pushback result does not end the action of a player with Stand Firm when that player is hit by a Diving Tackle. 3.095 A player who does a follow up of a Diving Tackle into a square in which the football is lying, does NOT get to attempt to pick it up. The ball scatters as soon as the blocked player is pushed back or knocked over. 3.096 Diving Tackle block rolls are made as soon as a player moves into a square. 3.097 Diving Tackle cannot be used against an opponent using the skill Diving Catch. 3.098 Diving Tackle may be used in conjunction with Dauntless. 3.099 You can use Diving Tackle against someone who leaps into a square within your tackle zone (no matter where the player leapt from). 3.0910 You may only be diving tackled ONCE per square entered. If you enter the TZ of two (or more) players with Diving Tackle, only one of them will be able to diving tackle you. 3.0911 You may follow up a Diving Tackle. 3.0912 Multiple Block cannot be combined with Diving Tackle. 3.0913 If the opponent you block with Diving Tackle is carrying the ball and loses it (either via Strip Ball or getting knocked down), the team will suffer an immediate turn over. 3.0914 Diving Tackle is the very first thing that takes place when a player enters the Tackle Zone, and so may be used against players trying to use Piling On and against players leaving a Shadowing player's Tackle Zone before Shadow rolls are made. 3.0915 Piling On and Diving Tackle cannot be combined. A player could still have both, but he cannot use Piling On after knocking someone down on a Diving Tackle. 3.0916 A player may only be blocked by a player with Diving Tackle if his entry into the player's tackle zone was voluntary. Thus, a player cannot be blocked by a Diving Tackle if their entry into the square was the result of a card (Sewer Map, Labbatt's Flying Fist, etc), being pushed by another Diving Tackle player (even if the push is controlled via Side Step), or by any other reason other than the player's voluntary movement. 3.0917 A player with Diving Tackle cannot use the skill against a player entering his square via the use of Diving Catch. This is the only exception to the rule of Diving Tackle and voluntary movement. |
